S/04.2 · HOW WE RESTORE

Sewage &
Process

A proven, step-by-step approach — from the moment we arrive to the final walk-through.

01
ARRIVAL

Safety Assessment

Crew arrives in full PPE. We assess contamination level, identify the source, and establish safety zones to protect all occupants.

02
HOURS 1–3

Contaminated Extraction

Specialized equipment designated for Category 3 water events extracts all standing contaminated water and disposes of it per health regulations.

03
HOURS 2–5

Material Removal

Porous materials that absorbed contaminated water — carpet, drywall, insulation — are removed and properly disposed of. These cannot be safely cleaned.

04
DAYS 1–3

Sanitization

All remaining surfaces are cleaned with professional antimicrobials and disinfectants. Floors, walls, framing, and subfloors are treated for pathogen elimination.

05
DAYS 2–5

Drying & Verification

Industrial drying equipment runs to safe moisture levels. We verify with moisture meters and document the completed sanitization process.

06
DAYS 5–14+

Restoration

Flooring, drywall, trim, and fixtures are rebuilt and restored — returning the area to a clean, safe, fully functional condition.

S/04.4 · COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Raw sewage contains bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella), viruses (Hepatitis A, Norovirus), parasites, and other pathogens. Direct contact or breathing contaminated air can cause serious illness. Never attempt to clean a sewage backup yourself without proper protective equipment.
In most cases, porous materials that have absorbed contaminated water — carpet, pad, upholstered furniture, mattresses — cannot be safely cleaned and must be replaced. Hard, non-porous items can typically be sanitized and saved.
A typical residential sewage cleanup takes 3–7 days, including extraction, material removal, sanitization, drying, and initial restoration. Full reconstruction may add additional time.
Many policies cover sewage backups, especially if you have a sewer/drain backup endorsement. Coverage varies by policy. We'll help you document the damage and work directly with your insurance company.
